In 2019 Keli began writing for the hotly anticipated new comedy Twenties, produced by Emmy-winner Lena Waithe. Before that, she spent two years writing for the CW Network's Black Lightning, based on the DC Comics superhero. Keli's career as a screenwriter began on the series Being Mary Jane, which chronicled the travails of a pioneering African American journalist. She was awarded a 2016 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Writing on a Dramatic Series for her work on the episode Sparrow. In 2019 Keli was nominated for two News/Documentary Emmys for her work as a producer on the Netflix film, Reversing Roe, a history of the political and legal battles over abortion in America.
